7th International Olive Oil Award - Zurich 2008 & Olio 2008

Now they are definite - the winners of the "7th International Olive Oil Award - Zurich 2008". In March 2008 the evaluation took place. Altogether 132 announced olive oils were evaluated sensorically by the Swiss Olive Oil Panel (SOP) from the ZHAW. The exact procedure and the conditions of participation are available in the valid regulations 2008.
On April 02, 2008 - in the context of the "7th International Olive Congress - Zurich 2008" - the results of the sensory evaluation are published for the first time. Altogether 30 olive oils where honoured, among them 5 Golden Olives, 8 Silver Olives and additionally 17 times an Award.

What happens in the oliveoil season 07/08 ?
IOOA 08
All registered oils take part in two events and have the “double chance” to gain an award. Both events are organized and accomplished from the University of Applied Sciences Zurich (ZHAW) in Waedenswil. Our media- and communication-partner is the Edition "Salz & Pfeffer".
The objective selection of sensorically excellent “extra virgin” olive oils was finished in the context of the „7th International Olive Oil Award – Zurich 2008". The tastings took place in March 2008 by the Swiss Olive Oil Panel (SOP) of the ZHAW, that is accredited since October 2007 according to ISO 17025 (STS 240; www.degu.ch). The members of the SOP are constantly trained in accordance to the regulations of the International Olive Oil Council (IOOC). Therefore the neutral and objective evaluation of the participating olive oils is ensured.
Again this year, there was the possibility to let the Olive Oils be analyzed chemically (4 parameters) for a special package-price.
The conditions of participation in the „7th International Olive Oil Award - Zurich 2008“ and the “Olio 2008 are available in the enclosed due Regulations 2008.
IOC 08
Sensorically excellent olive oils were honoured with the awards – “Golden Olive”, “Silver Olive” and “Award” on the occasion of the „7th International Olive Congress - Zurich 2008 on Wednesday, April 02, 2008.
Olio 08
The most accepted and prefered olive oils by consumers will be honoured with the „Olio 2008“. On the occasion of the Gourmesse 2008 (October 10th - 13th 2008) at the Kongresshaus Zurich these oils will be selected by a consumer test.
Publication
The results of both events - „7th International Olive Oil Award - Zurich 2008“ and the “Olio 2008” - will be published in the relevant technical literature, daily papers and as well the Internet (www.oliveoilaward.ch).
